Thanks Michael - I had a look at that too. But it says the say thing. I think Ted captured the essence above. The definition used for documents is so loose, and the application of whether or not an item may/may not be dutiable is too broad, is very …

Ted I was referring to (https://pe.usps.com/cpim/ftp/manuals/imm/full/imm.pdf 7 Nov 2022). "123.631 Letter-post mail (First-Class Mail International, IPA and ISAL items, and FirstClass Package International Service) must be separated based on con…

Scott Payton - its still not worth it. Hipstamp increases the price for more items bought for some weird reason. Funny, though, if you buy through Hippostcard's own store, they don't charge the prices Ted listed above - just normal postage. LOL
-
Ted - my understanding (always happy to be corrected) is it only applies to 'dutiable' items. The only other situation is if the sender wants to send the item registered, it must be sent as a package and thus those rules apply (and I get this for hig…

It completely depends on the item I am buying. If it is common material, I don't care. However, if it is a rarer item or subject to fraud/fake, I would prefer an accredited source.

Great initiative but the postage is terrible for international - $18USD for a $1USD stamp is crazy (worse than Ebay's stupid GSP!). Posting is usually $2-$4.50USD max anywhere else. Great to hear the APS is working on this, though. I could have b…

Just heard of this - I've never seen a seller have issues with this policy when shipping to Australia. It's only Ebay's GSP that is an issue.

Kris, your numbers are slightly wrong... 80,000 fractions total are available. SG withheld (not purchased) 39,200 of those (49% of available fractions). Its in the fine print under the 'amount owned.' That means only 40,800 are available for purcha…

Ive been getting mail from the US/Canada/UK between 2-3 weeks tops. Other European countries around 1 month. South Africa is a disaster - can be forever. South America is about 3-5 months. Only one package from the US was returned when the Sydney…

The 60% thing is totally misleading. Firstly, the debt loan agreement states that Phoenix need to give the approval for the stamp to sell (removing voter rights to choose to accept an offer). The PDS by Showpiece state that Stanley Gibbons will dete…

Dammit...I bought more stamps while typing this. haha

Right...so it appears the massive updraft is due to SG acquiring 49% of available pieces to the general public. "*A proportion will be retained indefinitely by Stanley Gibbons. See FAQs for more details." "Consistent with the concept of democrati…

Haha...so here is why you never trust unregulated gimmicks. 40,000 shares have been sold since going live to the general public. Amazing, you might say. But the devil is in the detail. A last minute change was made to the loan agreement before the …

Ted - I lurk in many dark places of the www.

SG do not own the stamp really - Phoenix do. SG borrowed the money from Phoenix who has a 58% stake in the SG. If I recall, SG ALSO have to pay Showpiece (also owned by Phoenix), 2.5% of the sale value. The legal title was shifted to SG for trust pu…

You don't "own" a piece of this stamp as much as Showpiece and SG have been promoting it. The contract clearly states that SG LEGALLY own the stamp in a basic trust set up where you are merely a beneficial owner, or in layman's terms, if they happen…
