"cinderella" to me is a term describing most poster type stamps. Most other non Scott listed stamps are called Cinderella Stamps by many. This area is Huge and in fact some are cataloged by Michel and by Barefoot or various other Catalogs made by collectors. In the USA Springer catalogs are very useful for Taxpaids, Express stamps, local posts, fantasy and real. college stamps, royality stamps. But this huge area of collecting includes the World. Some stamps have yet to be listed in catalogs as an example Japan has a lot of Silk seals that are not cataloged or listed anywhere. but many other areas exist. these stamps generally range from $3 to $100 in actual selling prices. Some countries like India are much lower in value due to the volume of these items. a very exciting field to collect and a challenge to understand the values and rarity as opposed to the catalogs that do exist and their stated values.

Telegraphs are another field and generally are undervalued. Specimens tend to be overvalued , imo. so it balances out. Revenue Stamps are the largest area and are of course Worldwide. France started producing Revenue stamps in the 1600's and it proved to be a great way to get money from the people. :-) England and Germany quickly followed with similar stamps. Postal issues generally started after 1850ish. Revenue stamps were around 250 years prior to that or almost 400 years ago and are available to collectors today at a reasonable costs.

Stamp collecting Postal issues can quickly become expensive after you get most items so I suggest you add a deep BOB area with things like i sell for the countries you collect..LOL :-) a little harder to acquire but a lot of fun tracing them down to purchase. I have Collected, accumulated and sold this area for over 30 years so i can clearly honestly state the value of this material has generally went up a lot in most scarce areas and down in others more common areas. my prices reflect a fair value according to my opinion and generally i ignore outdated catalog pricing. my thoughts are the values on my material will greatly out pace most postal issues.

The following revenue stamp is not really expensive but certainly old.. 1728-ish as penciled in. they were on vellum or hand made paper and required on documents.Hundreds of different types, values and designs exist and are better "supposedly" on full document. personally i do not want a huge collection of large documents so the stamps are a lot easier to collect for me. this one - denomination is 2sol I think. I would value it at about $4 to $5 so reasonable in costs. I have yet to see a catalog on these and I'm sure the values would be different from actual selling prices if one existed. This was issued about 125 years before the first postal stamp was issued. I added a few of these to my Hipstamp store - and if interest shown.. I will list more including some interesting 1600's ones that are almost 400 years old.

I figured Id list whole and give someone else with more time the opportunity to break them down. I've lowered the price and have sold two already. Great material and I found most everything on Barefoot (and the old Forbin PDFs). Shipping all those Barefoot catalogs was expensive - wish they'd publish online or digital copies (I have Maury on Kindle, and Michel, Yvert and SG online.) Only Facit, Scott and Maury Africa/Asia as hardcover. Also Durland, van Dam, Unitrade and other references.

Japan one my favorites :-) !00y brown, 50 yen blue 10 y green Rice and Farm Inspection.. way under priced in the barefoot asia catalog. scarce stamps actually and should be 10-20x catalog price.. over all the catalog is good for reference and some prices are close to correct.. most are very low to insanely low for Japan and Taiwan - Philippines tends to be better but very mixed in price accuracy overall as compared to all listed. still a great catalog!
