DeferredMembers Listings: Price Range Filter is broken

edited March 2017 in Bugs 0 LikesVote Down
For example, I have 54 listings in the price range $50 - $79.
Entering this range returns 39 results, and 31 of these are above $79. :(

  • I wonder if the system is converting your Aussie dollars to USD, since the price filter appears to be set up for USD. Even at that, though, the top six listings of the filtered results, go beyond the USD$79/AD$104.77 upper limit.
  • Trump's to blame.
  • What can you expect from an accordion player?

  • Yes - that's the case. For searching and sorting purposes we convert all prices to USD. This way, when you for example sort by price - everything will be correctly sorted. However, if you're searching by a range, it would make sense to let you choose what currency you want the range to be in. We have plans to improve a few items around multi-currency in the future.
  • Staggering beyond belief! Well, sorry, that is total BS Mark - an actual excuse for a BUG?

Clearly there is NO NEED for a currency selection or currency conversion for the purpose of price filtering in the MEMBERS AREA when I want to maintain my own listings. This is NOT a search or a sort as alluded to. I enter a price range and the filtering should simply select my listings within that criteria BEFORE any ill conceived currency conversion takes place.

Are you suggesting that because I don't sell in US currency that as punishment I'm to 2nd guess that you expect me to enter a US dollar range - convert the range I want to filter by to $US first every time I want to use it? Even that is impossible - it also yields incorrect results, as I don't know what conversion rates HipStamp is using at any time.

Why do I have to pretend I'm living in the US to use HipStamp?

I am suggesting that you should be able to search with the Price Filter in any currency you want. So if you list items in AUD, you should be able to see items, for example, from $1 AUD to $10 AUD and see those items (without any type of currency conversion) if that's what you want to do. You are correct though, that it's not currently possible to do this.

Currently the Price Filter (which is the same tool in both the main search area and Members Area) can only filter items by USD - there's no way to change this currently, but is a feature we plan to add in the future.

Within the Members Area, if you're looking to view items in a specific range outside of USD, one other option you have is to sort by price and go through the listings accordingly.
  • Hi Mark, WHY do you see this as a future feature and not as a bug that needs addressing now? It's extremely irritating when obvious bugs are transformed into something supposedly okay for now.

The reason I need this is as you know from a previous discussion, there is no ability to add insurance. So I need to MANUALLY maintain the postage for those more expensive items and include any insurance in the individual shipping for them.

It was your suggestion in another post that this is easily accomplished by using the PRICE FILTER! Grrrrr... :(
