Combined Shipping didn't work

I had a potential buyer today who wanted to buy, using the Buy it Now option, several of the Papua stamps that I listed in auction today but apparently the Hipstamp system wanted to charge him shipping for each item and did not combine invoices. I suggested he send a help ticket in but he declined and walked away from the sale. As far as I can see my shipping is set up so that extra items do not get an additional charge. Is there something that I am not seeing in my shipping options that is causing this or is it a Hipstamp bug? It wasn't a huge sale but I like every sale that i can get.

  • Now I am a bit miffed. The 2 stamps the gentleman were interested in have apparently been closed as auction items, on which I paid the listing fee, but he has walked away from the purchase so I have no sale, no apparent sale possible unless I relist the stamps again, and I have paid a listing fee for nada.
  • Auction Items work differently than Store Items. In general, a buyer will bid on auction items, and the high bidder will win the item. When multiple auction items are one, they are combined into one invoice. It is also possible to add Store Items to your auction wins to combine on Shipping. However, if you optionally add a Buy It Now price to an Auction Item - this works a little different than a store item. In order to essentially end the auction early and purchase it at the Buy It Now price, you would need to pay for the item immediately - and it can not be combined with other items. This is a special case, outside the normal auction or Store Item system.

With regards to listing fees, all Auction listings have a 3c fee - whether the item sells or not. If you list an auction item and it ends without being purchased (either through the standard auction / bidding process or buy it now price) you're still responsible for the listing fee.

That being said, if you believe something has happened which is not part of the normal process, such as the items were closed early in any way, etc. please use the Contact Us form to discuss your specific situation further.
  • Well I will contact you, but the items are now listed as closed and not in auction. I can accept the fact that I pay a listing fee and something may not sell, but it is difficult to accept that a potential buyer can start to Buy It Now, get the items moved to closed, and then walk away from the deal leaving me having paid the listing fee for something that can no longer be sold in auction.
With Bidstart we were able to produce our own invoice and combine items. Eliminating that feature, IMHO, was not a good move.

    Hi Dennis,

I agree that would not make any sense, and our system is not designed to allow a potential buyer to close an auction item in any way, unless by purchasing and paying for the item when the Buy It Now option is enabled (and why it works differently than with standard store items). We'll follow-up with you on this specific item.

Note that with regards to any auctions which have been won, or Store items, all invoices within five days are automatically combined, including when checking out for new Store Items. As a Seller, you can also edit and combine any invoices however you would like for any unpaid items, regardless of when they ended.
