How long do we have to wait for non paying bidders to pay up? If they do not pay is it automatic to get a refund on selling fees? How energetic is Hipstamp in reminding buyers that they have to pay?
Mark addressed this previously. Here is what he said then (Sept 13):
On HipStamp this is done automatically. We send an email invoice after any items are won (which are not paid at checkout, ie auctions, offers, or if you accept checks). We then automatically send an email invoice reminder at 3, 7, 10, 14 and 21 days. Outside these email invoices, you can contact the buyer through the "Contact Buyer" button on the order.
Thanks Wayne - I probably read it and forgot it. The non paying bidder was for a Nov 24 sale so I guess I can write that purchase off. Thankfully not for a lot of coin.
Omg...Wayne, I received a money order today for $1.75 for a sale from a month ago also...I think it cost him money for the money order, the stamp to mail it to me...I think he way over paid for the 0.99 cent stamp he bought...I think most people are afraid of PAYPAL...quick and easy...I think a month is to way to long to wait for payment...
non paying bidders, ebay bunnies, forgers, low life. After all avenues are addressed, should be banned, and listed as "Do Not Deal With These Members" So mods, set up a a page that says "Do Not Deal With These Members" That's what happens on Stampboards here in Australia http://www.stampboards.com/ Sam
If a buyer makes an offer which is accepted, then doesn't pay for it or answer any correspondence, what would be the next step, is there a way of filing an unpaid invoice request to Hipstamp or do you just relist the item, also what happens to the final selling fees that are charged by Hipstamp.
Lawyers would probably fall over themselves filing lawsuits against Hipstamp. A bad list can be maintained in a private members only venue, but in a public site in North America it is just inviting a lawsuit - no matter how good an idea it is.
At one time Feebay would cancel or close an account if the account holder stiffed 3 or more vendors. I don't know if they still do that but that would be an easy way to get rid of the "free stamp" collectors. If they don't have an account they can't bid. I know that the CSDA has a list of names that merit care but it is a members only list. I would assume that ASDA has something similar. Back in the stone ages, before computers, there were print lists maintained by a H Holt some where in Nebraska, and a Stamp Dealers Protective something or other that kept lists of customers that did not return approvals, switched stamps, did not pay for auction lots etc, but one had to pay to receive those lists. Non payers have been around in the stamp business since the days of J Walter Scott and Stanley Gibbons, and will still be around long after I have shuffled off to eternity. There are always people with eyes bigger than their wallets.
