The story of my collection

Well the high level view at least.

I was happily going along buying stamps. The first one I could not buy is 613. Then there are 4 in the 500s. 594, 544, 539, 534B. The 400s were expensive but fun. Got them all. Then we hit the 300s. It has taken me years just to map them out. And in deference to our experts some of these are genuinely expensive. The 200s are also done. The 100s have some expensive items as well. Those with 2 digits will always hold a special place in my collection. They are not done. But are getting close. 5 on my list. 8 in total.

  • That doesn't seem like a very logical way to collect stamps
  • Logic has nothing to do with collecting, which is a passion.
  • Cool story Bob. One of the things that I love about Philately is that everyone has their own approach. Every person is fascinated by something different, that makes every collector and every collection unique. 613... that's a tough one.
  • I did buy a nice 77 (light cancel) at the PAN coin show last year.
And I now have the complete Louisana Purchase series (used)
  • How many Columbians do you have, Bob??
  • I've recently read a posting on another forum by a collector who wrote that when he is "finished" with a country, he never goes back to look at the album. He sells it to Dr. Bob or whoever and moves on. That is not what I would do, but his boat is floated and I'm happy for him.
  • That s probably what I should do, Phil, but I really want to see how many different countries (living and dead) I can collect.
I'll probably have some stuff for sale at the club table at Wilpex
