Wwii patriotic covers: aside from a few large printing companies, many anti axis leader wwii patriotic covers and some postcards were printed in editions of 500 or less! Worldwide interest in these patriotic items has been growing, especially covers and postcards which portray the axis dictators. The old adage, buy the most expensive items now and pick up the more common ones later is certainly true here. Also, remember: i do not recommend buying wwii patriotic items that have postmarks after the end of wwii (wwii dates september 1, 1939 ending on september 2, 1945) because these are clearly post wwii usage and do not qualify as wwii patriotic covers or postcards that were used during the conflict--they have little value as such! Exceptions could be made for wwii patriotic covers postmarked on significant post war anniversaries or rare covers sought after as a souvenir.
William Guthrie in his catalog in 1985 for Patriotic Covers of WWII: "The prices shown for each cover are the editor's valuation after buying and selling in excess of 500,000 covers during the past 12 years (written in 1985!) and studying prices asked and realized in dealer price lists and auctions. The demand for these covers has greatly increased during the past couple years (again written in 1985). WWII Patriotic Art is now slowly being accepted as an art form."
