William Guthrie in his catalog in 1985 for Patriotic Covers of WWII: "The prices shown for each cover are the editor's valuation after buying and selling in excess of 500,000 covers during the past 12 years (written in 1985) and studying prices asked and realized in dealer price lists and auctions.
