WWII Patriotic Ancillary S Ray Newspaper Cartoon Hitler Puppets Berlin. Approximate measurement: About 4.25 inches across by About 6.5 inches tall. These are uncommon, vintage original cartoons cut from WWII newspaper in Plattsburgh, New York. Small city sits just south of border with Canada. Expect some age-related issues--overall though great shape. Great anti Hitler sentiment. Front and back shown. Properly handled, these cartoons would make an excellent addition to a WWII cover collection or for inclusion into a stamp show exhibition on the topic.
Many patriotic covers were produced in very small quanties-500 was not uncommon, even 100 copies. William Guthrie in his catalog in 1985 for Patriotic Covers of WWII: "The prices shown for each cover are the editor's valuation after buying and selling in excess of 500,000 covers during the past 12 years (written in 1985) and studying prices asked and realized in dealer price lists and auctions. The demand for these covers has greatly increased during the past couple years (again written in 1985). WWII Patriotic Art is now slowly being accepted as an art form."
