Item Description
This World War II cover was "franked" by a se-tenant pair of Patriotic Cinderella issues and addressed to Merit, a stamp dealer in Brooklyn, New York. The pair has been cancelled by a Washington, D.C. machine cancel dated May 8, 1945, Victory in Europe (V-E) Day.Verso has the green handstamp of stamp dealer George R. Williams, "Nothing but Covers" in Oakland, California.
No indication of this philatelically contrived cover having travelled through the mail and since I have several examples, each addressed to a different stamp dealer, most likely these were favor cancelled in Washington, D.C. and returned to Williams in bulk for him to distribute.
The backflap is un-sealed and intact. No contents or backstamps.
The cover in the scan is the one you will receive. Light lines in images are SCANNER ARTIFACT!
Shipping always combined.
