The Claude C. Ries Chapter of the AFDCS - an enthusiastic group of Southern California FDC collectors - gathers every summer for a bountiful BBQ at the home of a club member. Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Ice Cream and Watermelon are the staples!

In 2023 we gathered once again at the Moreno Valley home of Gladys Jones, whose home is virtually a Winnie The Pooh museum.  Temperatures hit 100˚, but we barely noticed, as we chowed down on the bounty of summertime goodies prepared by Gladys and her hard working hospitality co-chair, Yvette Grant!

That's Gladys startledly reacting to an unexpected WATERFALL nearly dowsing her and the burgers she'd been BBQing!  Piglet and Pooh, who are a bit better prepared for the showering with their own umbrellas look  on in surprise! 

The cover is franked with the recent WATERFALLS stamp depicting the Harrison Wright Falls in PA, and is cancelled with the official USPS FDoI DCP pictorial cancel.

This cover was given out to attendees of the annual summer get-together and very few were left over!

It was a great party . . . and nobody actually got soaked!
