Item Description
I apologize to all philatelists out there. My dad is 85 years young and I am trying to help him "downsize" some of his stuff. Stamps appear to be "some of his stuff". What I know about stamps would probably fit on the stamp itself, but I am trying to look things up as I go. Please, if you see something incorrect regarding my listing, let me know so that I can learn (and also correct the listing).Feel free to make an offer on anything you see listed. Thanks for looking.
This is a group of 6 US Postal Cards. One Cent denomination. Round, black, Jefferson stamp imprints on right side of card. Name is larger and in a squared off rectangle below the image. The laurels on either side of the circle go almost to the top. The cards measure 3-1/4" x 5-1/2". See below for individual descriptions of each card:
1. Addressed to Mr. Jaeger. Cancelled July 3, 1899 in Worcester, Mass. Cancellation over stamp is a round, black spot. The Washington, D.C. postmark at the bottom of the card is round and dated July 4, 1899. There is also an oval stamp marked "Received 1". The card is worn, especially at the edges. The back is a personal note.
2. Addressed to W. Jenks on some type of silvered film in the address section. The silvering covers the very bottom of the stamp (see photo). Cancelled Mar 4, 1901 in Washington, D.C.
