Condition: corner creasesUSPS First Day of Issue Ceremony Program for the dedication of Scott #U541 1 1/4c Benjamin Franklin stamped envelope, FDOI, June 25, 1960, Birmingham, Alabama with first day of issue and first day of show cancellations. The ceremony was held at the Birmingham Public Library and was part of Dixie Stamp Collectors convention and Dixipex III stamp exhibition. Attached to page 3 of the program is a cacheted first day cover prepared for the exhibition and ceremony. "This new 1 1/4c envelope represents Birmingham's first 'First Day' and the first such fractional postage rate ever issued. This will be the new rate for Non-Profit bulk mailings - July 1, 1960." The first day stamped envelope fdc cover also is stamped with Scott #s 1031A (1 1/4c Palace of the Governors) and 1032 (1 1/2c Mount Vernon). The program cover has a first day of show cancellation of Scott #1132 4c 49 Star Flag, June 25, 1960, Dixiepex Station, Birmingham, Alabama. Program measures 7" x 8 1/2".
