USPS First Day of Issue Ceremony Program for the dedication of Scott #2818 29c Buffalo Soldiers stamp, FDOI, April 22, 1994, pictorial cancellation "Lest We Forget", Buffalo Soldier Fort Leavenworth Station, Leavenworth, Kansas. "Fort Leavenworth is the original home of the 10th Cavalry Regiment (arrived August 1866) and the site of the Buffalo Soldier Monument....In late 1940, the last Buffalo Soldier departed Fort Leavenworth for Fort Riley, Kansas. " The stamp was designed by the well known Civil War artist Mort Kunstler, the cover photograph by Larry Schwarm, the pictorial cancellation by Alfred T. Dulin, and the inside silhouette art by Vicki Dupler. Program measures 9" x 6".Sales History
