Item Description
Check this out - This is definitely USA 409 - 2 cent Imperf flat plate single line watermark issue, but Scott catalogue only lists Carmine, Dark Carmine & Scarlet as shade varieties. This one appears more like Rose Carmine to me. In the third scan I have placed a normal Carmine 409 single in the middle to contrast the shade variety of this block.This is a block of 8 stamps in XF condition, light hinge mark affecting middle two stamps at top, rest are never hinged. There is a pencil note on back indicating catalogue number and also full offset on back.
All in all a very interesting block.
