US Scott#74TC2 aka 74P2 rare Scarlet Roosevelt Proof, only 85 made, beautiful

The Roosevelt Presentation Album was made to celebrate the first 50 years of stamps. 85 albums were produced using the original dies where available. These albums were distributed as gifts to friends of the president and the post office. There are three 3c Washington stamps in the album. This one is the brightest color - scarlet - and appears on the same page as the Premiere Gravure proofs.

This stamp was cut out of the album leaving it attached to the cardboard backing. Striping stamps off the backing often results in damage to the stamp. Better to leave it on like this.

Scott renamed this from 74P2 to 74TC2 but there is some controversy about whether it really makes sense to refer to some of the stamps as proofs and some as essays all made at the same time for the same album.
