US Scott#396 OG 1910 perf 8.5 coil line pair, genuine, cat $425a great pair with original gum, previously hinged
there is a thin spot on the left stamp, otherwise sound
I recently acquired a collection that included a large number of older coil stamps. Unfortunately, as usual, a majority of them are faked with fake perfs or trimmed perfs etc.
I am listing the few genuine ones. There are great resources online for looking at these commonly faked stamps. I recommend the StampSmarter site as a great place to learn.

About my scans with the light background: I recently changed from using black Vario pages to transparent pages. This reduces the handling of stamps to scan the backs and provides truer color. My new scanner was under-exposing the stamps with the black background. The new scans are 1200dpi showing more detail and better color. Other than straightening and cropping, the scans have not been altered in any way.
