Item Description
The brown and buff Liberty Postal Card, SC UX1 and UX3, were the first typographed postal cards sold by the U.S Post Office, starting in 1873. The only difference between UX1 and UX3 is the size of the watermark. This particular card has the smaller watermark, indicating it is a UX3. This card is hand dated in calligraphy on the back, "Nov 18, 1876". The card was mailed from Joseph Bradley to Samuel Merrill of Parsonsfield, Maine. A very nice piece of postal history to have in any early American philatelic collection.Note:
