Cancellation June 7 , 2002 , New York , NY , First Day of Issue . 2 stamps on 2 Lakestamps Silk Cacheted First Day Covers . First is a plain white cover with the cachet picturing flames from the impact of the 2nd terrorist highjacked commercial jet airliner as it hit the South Tower , while smoke came from the North Tower which had been hit minutes earlier by the 1st terrorist highjacked jet . Cachet is made from a picture taken from a rooftop , in the borough of Queens in NYC , overlooking a cemetery . Caption Reads - America Attacked ! September 11 , 2001 . The second is an airmail cover with the cachet picturing a Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber dropping bombs .
