Item Description

Block of ten (68-cent) forever stamps commemorating leaders of the Underground Railroad in MNH, F-VF condition. No flaws noted. The die cuts are fully intact (i.e. no separations or folds are noted), the stamps are crisp & their colors are distinct. Selvage is attached along the bottom and left & right sides of the block of stamps and plate number 'P1111' is printed horizontally on the bottom selvage below the stamps located at the lower leftmost & rightmost corners. A short blurb is printed on the back of each stamp to describe the stamps' Underground Railroad participants. The block of stamps depict (in left-to-right, top-to-bottom order) the following leaders of the Underground Railroad: Harriet Tubman (SC #5834), Thomas Garrett (SC #5835), William Still (SC #5836), Harriet Jacobs (SC #5837), Jermain Loguen (SC #5838), Catharine Coffin (SC #5839), Lewis Hayden (SC #5840), Frederick Douglass (SC #5841), William Lambert (SC #5842) and Laura Haviland (SC #5843). Barcode '484600' is printed vertically on the back of the right selvage. Photogravure, self-adhesive gum, tagged, serpentine die cut 10¾.
