Item Description

This stamp has the original gum and hinge remnants. The back also has a G. CARION PARIS mark in red ink. Georges Carion advertised as a expert at 21 Rue Nollet in Paris, France. He specialized in France and the French colonies. One source also identified him as a dealer and forger. There are dark blue ink spots near the RF and to the right of General Faidherbe's image. The dark mark on the "N" in NIGER is also visible on the back and may be a paper imperfection.
