ABRAHAM LINCOLN: Normal-Sized envelope, intended to be mailed with James Frear M. C. printed free frank (Frear was a member of Congress 1913-1935), he was a Republican from Wisconsin, the envelope is unused BUT HAS IT'S ORIGINAL CONTENT, a speech made before Congress in 1926, 8pgs, folded twice (as always), the speech quotes almost entirely Corporal Tanner's memoirs of LINCOLN'S DEATH incl Stanton's famed comment "He Belongs to the Ages Now", Frear delivered this speech June 1st 1926, he was well-known for voting AGAINST entering World War One, this Lincoln related item was printed by the Government Printing Office, I have seen this piece in some well-known Lincoln collections and dealers stocks, selling for a great deal more than my asking price, minty fresh and VF

Cpl. James R. Tanner (April 4, 1844 -October 2, 1927) is best known for having lost his legs below the knee at the Second Battle of Bull Run (Manassas). Serving during the rest of the war as a government stenographer, he was at the bedside after Abraham Lincoln was shot and took notes that are the most comprehensive record of the events of the President's assassination. He later served as the United States Commissioner of Pensions, and helped with the American Red Cross. Notice that he was still alive (82 years old) when this speech was made. A rare and impressive Lincoln themed item.
