Item Description
United States, Scott #C148 (Michel # US4678)(Stanley Gibbons US A5116)(Yvert et Tellier US PA141), used(o) air mail, 2011, Scenic American Landscapes Air Mail Series: Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota; the park is in northern Minnesota, near the Canadian border; it covers a vast area and is known for its forests, waterways and huge lakes; the stamp shows portions of the Ellsworth Rock Gardens, created by artist Jack Ellsworth, are a series of abstract sculptures on a terraced outcrop on Lake Kabetogama in the park; today, 18 Native American tribes are culturally related to area encompassed by the park; the first European explorer to reach Voyageurs National Park was French-Canadian Jacques de Noyon in 1688, who built a small fort and fort and developed a trading relationship with the local Assiniboine tribe; as the North American fur trade developed, more and more fur traders, called 'voyageurs,' came to the area, and hence the area gained its name; 80 cents, issued with non-water soluble self-adhesive gum, serpentine die cut simulated perforations: 10¾, offset lithography printed by Ashton Potter USA (APU), multicolored, Scott 2025 Catalog Value: 25¢, nicely centered (superb), light, black-inked, half circular, visibly single-rimmed, socked-on-the-nose touch border cancel along the lower right edge of the stamp and well clear of the main image, stamp has horizontal surface crease across the upper middle of the stamp along the 'reed line' in the stamp caused when the customer incorrectly bent back the stamp when removing it from its counter pane, good perforations, this stamp was soaked from the mailing envelope using the Bestine solvent and placed on a piece of black trimmed card stock for an attractive and uniform album appearance; centering, mounting, and image clear cancel warrants a selling price premium, but surface crease calls for an adjustment, so a wash. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.55 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.68 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
