Item Description
United States, Scott #4610, used(o), 2012, Birds of Prey definitive series, stamp shows a Golden Eagle, this bird is one of the largest, fastest, and nimblest raptors in North America; its gold feathers on the back of its head and neck give the bird its name; a powerful beak and talons show its hunting prowess; they are most prevalent in western North America, soaring on steady wings or diving in pursuit of the jackrabbits and other small mammals that are its main prey; 85 cents covering the first class mail rate for three ounce mailings, serpentine die cut simulated perforations scale: 11¼x10¾, offset lithography printed by Ashton Potter USA (APU), issued with non-water soluble self adhesive gum in panes of 20 stamps for the five designs of the series, four rows of five stamps each, slanted ‘USPS’ in black ink microprinting in the neck feathers at the lower right, date of issue ‘2012’ also in black ink vertical microprint at lower right border, multicolored, Scott 2025 Catalog Value: 35¢, nicely centered (superb), crisp, red-inked, double-rimmed, quarter-to-half circular, quarter clockwise turned, socked-on-the-nose cancellation centered at lower left and extending up and over most of the lower half of the stamp and over the main image, good perforations, stamp was lifted from the mailing envelope using the Bestine solvent and placed on a piece of black trimmed card stock for an attractive and uniform album appearance with other stamps of the period similarly mounted; centering and mounting warrant a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.65 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.73 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
