Item Description

United States, Scott #3919, used(o), 2005, Advances in Aviation Series, stamp shows Republic Aviation's P-47, Thunderbolt; a World War II-era fighter aircraft produced by the American company Republic Aviation from 1941 through 1945; it was a successful high-altitude fighter, and it also served as the foremost American fighter-bomber in the ground attack role; it was nicknamed the 'Jug' owing to its appearance if stood on its nose; the P-47 was noted for its firepower and its ability to resist battle damage and remain airworthy; more than 15,600 were built and flown by the United States and other allied nations; 39 cents, lithography printed, serpentine die cut simulated perforations: 10½x10¾, non-water soluble self-adhesive gum panes, Scott 2019 Catalog Value: 40¢, multicolored, nicely centered, light, broken-up, quarter circular, red-inked, double-rimmed, slightly smudged, socked-on-the-nose corner cancel on the lower left and into the main image, the stamp has a serious diagonal surface crack at the top right, hence discounted, the stamp was soaked from the mailing envelope using the Bestine solvent and placed on a piece of black trimmed card stock for an attractive album mounting, good perforations. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive.

I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
