Item Description
United States, Scott #3411b, used(o), 2000, To Celebrate America's Achievements in Space, at the turn of the Millennium, the Post Office issued five Souvenir Sheets, this stamp is the second stamp from the third sheet and shows a reflective hologram of two astronauts working in space on the outside of the space station in a blue printed frame, the images can be seen when held sideways in an indirect light; the two Priority Mail stamps feature the International Space Station and represent American technology in solving the problems of escaping the gravitational pull of Earth and learning how to send missions into Earth's orbit; issued at a counter value of $3.20 for the priority mail rate, customer torn perforations at scale 10½; issued with non-water soluble self-adhesive gum; the stamp frame and souvenir sheet was photogravure printed by Sennett Security Products who also produce the foil-based holograms, phosphorus tagged paper; Scott 2025 Catalog Value: $4.00, nicely centered (superb), light, half circular, black-inked, double-rimmed, 180° counter-clockwise turned, socked-on-the-nose cancellation on the left side of the stamp and well clear of most of the main images, some surface ink lost on the perforation tips on all four sides, otherwise good perforations, stamp was lifted from the mailing envelope using the Bestine solvent and placed on a piece of black trimmed card stock for an attractive and uniform album appearance with other stamps of the period similarly mounted, the foil surface was also wiped clean with the same solvent leaving just the cancel marks, centering, mounting, and image free cancel warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.65 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.73 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
