Item Description
United States, Scott #3064a, used(o) block of four, 1996, Pioneers in Communications Issue, stamps honor four Pioneers in Communications whose inventions led the way in mass communications, combining print, images, and speed, stamps show an image of each inventor and his signature with some image from their work in the background, from top left to bottom right: Fredrick Ives (1852-1932), developer of the halftone process of using small dots to capture images in both color and shading; William Dickson (1860-1935), developer of the kinoscope, an early image recording machine; Eadweard Muybridge (1830-1904), English photographer who pioneered work using photos in motion, the early precursor of motion-picture projection with his zoopraxiscope; Ottmar Morgenthaler (1854-1899), inventor of the linotype printing machine that set type automatically using a hot metal instant castings technique; 32 cents each, lithography printed by Ashton Potter USA (APU), issued with water soluble self adhesive gum, serpentine die cut simulated perforations: 11.1x11, multicolored, Scott 2025 Catalog Value: 25¢ each, stamps are all nicely centered (superb), stamps share a black-inked, classic, full circular, single-rimmed, socked-on-the-nose cancellation with complete mailing details dead centered in the middle point for the four stamps and extending out and up over the four stamps each at the corner of each stamp, sound back, good perforations; block arrangement, and largely image clear cancel warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.65 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.73 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
