Item Description
United States, Scott #2116, used(o) coil, 1985, USA Flag Definitive Series, stamp shows the US Flag over the United States Capitol complex with an accompanying patriotic phrase from the conclusion of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address; stamp is unusual for a US flag definitive is it was issued in a large stamp size typically reserved for commemorative stamps, and was further unusual in that it was issued for use in stamp vending machine and the issue itself was made in panes of five stamps, this was unusual since the price of the pane had to be in issued with a total value rounded to the nearest five or ten cent values since the older vending machines could not give change in pennies and at 22 cents per stamp, this presented rounding problems, also these vending machines could not handle total values in excess of $1.25, so panes of five at an issue total of $1.10 satisfied these two vending machine dilemmas, 22 cents, engraved and printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), perforated: 10 vertical, blue, red, and black, Scott 2019 Catalog Value: 25¢, nicely centered, large, light, black-inked remnant of a horizontal message block cancellation on the upper right and well clear of the main image, sound back, stamp's perforations at the top appear scissor cut by the customer, otherwise good perforations; centering and image clear cancel warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.50 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.66 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
