This stamp commemorates the six-day mission of June 1983, in which the Space Shuttle Challenger carried America's first female astronaut, Dr. Sally K. Ride. The seventh shuttle mission, this was the first to land on the three-mile-long runway at Florida's Kennedy Space Center. Photogravure, tagged, perf 11.2.
