Item Description

United States #245 $5 Columbian OG w/ Probable Thins. Please see photos. This example presents well, excellent color, original gum that is very good. But note the strip on top back. I reevaluated this today as I was uncomfortable with condition. This is not a hinge remnant, it appears to be strip of tape to repair and cover what are probably spots of thinning along the top edge of the stamp. I tried to remove the tape with the old standby Super Safe Stamp Lift Fluid, The tape was NOT impressed, it refused to budge. Not wanting to cause any damage to the stamp, I decided to leave the tape. I used my Signoscope used for seeing watermarks to take a picture, which is included.

This is one of the harder to fill spots in any United States collection, so I am offering it for auction starting at only $460, 20% of current catalog list.
