Item Description

SCV $2.00 (2014). Block of eight 10-cent Universal Postal Union stamps in UNUSED, F-VF condition. Four light hinge marks are seen on the back of the block of stamps (one on each of the four top stamps) and the two stamps on the right side of the block have crinkled corner., otherwise no flaws noted. Gum is immaculate & shiny (except in the area of the hinge marks), the stamps are crisp & their colors are bright. The block of stamps depict (in left-to-right, top-to-bottom order) the following paintings: "Lady Writing Letter" by Gerard Terborch (SC #1534), inkwell & quill from "Boy with a Top" by Jean-Baptiste Simeone Charin (SC #1535), Mrs. John Douglas by Thomas Gainsborough (SC #1536), Don Antonio Noriega by Francisco de Goya (SC #1537), Michelangelo from "School of Athens" by Raphael (SC #1530), "Five Feminine Virtues" by Hokusai (SC #1531), "Old Scraps" by John Fredrick Peto (SC #1532) and "The Lively Reader" by John Etienne Liotard (SC #1533). Photogravure, water-activated gum, tagged, perf 11.
