Item Description
AIRMAIL: Transport Series; three covers with 1942-45 usages, (Scott #C27-C29), all covers are MULTIPLE USAGES OF THE SAME STAMP with no additional issues, all covers are legal size, 20c has seven examples (one tiny flaw) tied by San Francisco CA Rincon Annex duplexes to airmail envelope of the Honolulu Iron Works SF division, addressed to their office in HONOLULU, no doubt essential war-related mail, censored (appears to be censored twice - a bit of the original censor is visible at the UL of the second scan), some flaws from opening, next the 10c has three examples paying triple rate from SAN JUAN PUERTO RICO, Office of the Governor, addr to Division of Territories and Island Possessions / Dept of the Interior / Washington D.C., the cover was sent by Thomas Loren Karsten, and was censored by him, Karsten was the Lieutenant Governor of Puerto Rico (a naval position), he was R C Tugwell's Lt Gov and has signed the cover (see the fifth scan), Tugwell was the last American-appointed governor of Puerto Rico, very important airmail cover, finally a large (bigger than #10) cover with five 15c Transport (one flty due to size), cnl Honolulu HI Jul 26 1945, addr NYC, printed addr crossed off and ms address added from the Hazeltine Corp / Electronics Office / Navy Yard, Pearl Harbor / T.H., censored, pays five times the late-war clipper rate of 15c, multiples of this stamp are rarely seen, flaws but unusual late WWII usage, incredibly scarce gathering of covers, Fine-VFThese covers were part of an important exhibit /collection of the popular Transport Issue. When the collection was sold in 2004, a dealer priced these three at $130 total. My price is quite a bit lower.
I combine shipping when possible. Just ask.
