After 8 days-23 hours they returned to Earth and splashed down in the Pacific where they were picked up by the USS Essex (CVS-9) on 10/22/1967 in the Atlantic Ocean. This cover is from the Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station, Waianae, HI. and cancelled on 10/14/1968 during the flight of Apollo 8. A small hand signed index card is enclosed by E.A. Leccacorvi, MSgt USAF, manager of 6593rd Instrumentation squadron, Waianae, HI.
