_"THE CANADIAN PHILATELIST" _ March 1888, Vol. 1., No. 3. SPECIMEN ISSUE

(1st year of publication, third issue)

This lovely old edition is a Specimen Copy.  As noted in the publication, at that time, a Specimen Copy was only sent to a collector upon application, and only one.  How many members were there in 1888?  How many copies survived 130 years in this condition?  One will never know!  However, I have only been able to find a scanned (non-Specimen copy) on the internet. That was found here.  That source only contains three pages and is missing the fourth that is in this document.  At that time, they were having issues with their printer and had apologized for the previous two issues.  I believe that the format had changed and that the magazine was now a part of a larger publication.  The publication was never reproduced, as outlined below.
