Item Description
As a life-long Sylvester the Cat fan, I may have gone a bit overboard with my collecting pursuits when the Tweety and Sylvester stamp in the Looney Tunes series was issued in 1998. I not only spent the First Day of Issue traveling all over southern California for appropriate UO cancels, but I also sent away to every Post Office that was offering the Official Local First Day of Issue Cancel approved by the USPS.This particular Local FDC was serviced in Somerset, NJ. It was printed in black in tan paper and then handcolored. There were more than 4 dozen U.S. towns and cities that offered this cancel - so I was obviously NOT the only one excited about this stamp!
This is the only cover sent to Somerset, NJ and one of only about 30 of the Local FDCs I serviced.
