Item Description
The Ries Chapter of the American First Day Cover Society holds a 'LUAU' every Spring for its Southern California members. We don't roast a pig or chow down on POI, but we have a great time nevertheless!2017 marked the Seventh Annual Luau and it was commemorated with a first day cover of the then-new $1.00 Global Forever stamp that shows an Echeverria succulent, and which was given to all attendees.
The cover has an original cachet showing our gracious hostess doing the Hula in a Hawaiian outfit with an ECHEVERRIA (instead of grass) SKIRT! The pig is a little taken aback by her attire . . but very glad he's not being roasted!
The cover bears the round ECHEVERRIA stamp for international mail, and is cancelled with the official Digital Color Postmark for the first day of this stamp.
