Item Description

Did you know the lady on top of the U.S. Capitol dome was a FDC collector?It's true -- here she is, the Statue of Freedom herself,holding the very FDC on which she is depicted . .a FDC of the stamp with her $5 portrait on it!

This cover was given in thanks to AFDCS volunteers who manned the Society's table at the giant WASHINGTON 2006 international stamp exhibition. It bears the three high-value stamps from the souvenir sheet issued at the show, which was based on the 1923 stamps of the same design.

The One Dollar, Two Dollar and Five Dollar replica singles are joined by the 1950 3¢ National Capitol Sesquicentennial stamp that shows a full-figure view of the large STATUE of FREEDOM sculpture that tops the Capitol Dome.

The reverse shows a photo of the actual statue that now stands atop the Capitol Dome ( and which is pretty hard to see without binoculars!).

Only about 20 of this type were made . . . but you have the FREEDOM to own this one!
