Item Description
United States, Scott #4664, used(o), 2012, to Honor the 150th (Sesquicentennial) of the American Civil War, the post office issued six yearly pairs of large sized panorama stamps of two each in an accompanying souvenir sheet, each of the six portraying the major battles for that year of the war; this stamp is part of the second year issue and is one commemorating one of the two major battles of 1862 (the other being the Battle of Antietam Creek in Maryland), this stamp shows the Naval Battle and Siege of New Orleans, led by Admiral Farragut, which began the effort of the Union for the separation of the Confederacy from the east and west along the Mississippi River; with the capture of New Orleans, the Union isolated the city from foreign aid, took control of the Mississippi River, and helped seal the Confederacy’s fate; issued as a forever stamp with an individual counter value of (45 cents); serpentine die cut simulated perforations: 11, offset lithography printed by Ashton Potter USA (APU), issued with non-water soluble self adhesive gum on the souvenir sheet; multicolored, issued as a forever stamp with an individual counter value of (45 cents), Scott 2025 catalog value: 25¢, slightly, left/right, off-centered (very fine), very faint, quarter-to-half circular, double-rimmed, broken-up and hollowed-out, black-inked, socked-on-the-nose border and corner cancellation at the lower right and largely clear of the main image, perforations at the right lower side have been scissor cut by the customer, also some surface ink is missing from one perforation at the right lower corner, otherwise good perforations, stamp was lifted from the mailing envelope using the Bestine solvent and placed on a piece of black trimmed card stock for an attractive and uniform album appearance with other stamps of the period similarly mounted; centering, mounting, and image clear cancel warrants a selling price premium, but perforation damage calls for an adjustment, so a wash. This is not a 'bait-and-switch;' the stamp you see will be the one you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.65 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.73 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
