SINGAPORE: Early Meter Stamp (MALAYA Straits Settlements): on AIRMAIL COVER to US, JUSQU'A USAGE sent air to London (per ms), then by steamer to New York, 1937 usage of TYPE CD3.A, 35 CENTS RATE, METER NO U22, addr NYC USA, MARKED AIRMAIL IN RED, airmail label added, THEN STRUCK BY BARS IN LONDON (JUSQU'A), cover has small tears along the top edge & a small part of backflap is missing, some old prices etc, from the partial ms on reverse IT APPEARS THE SENDER WAS ON THE SS STEEL TRAVELER, A SHIP LATER USED BY THE ARMY and SUNK IN 1944, BIT FLAWED BUT REMARKABLE USAGE, FINE-VFMeter stamp is listed as malaysia #cd3.A
It's interesting that at the bottom of the cover there is a partial strike of the jusqu'a marking as if the postal clerk had a large number of such envelopes and stacked them up to process them.
