Sgdp20 1840 (august) 1d rainbow trial presentation sheet of 20

Sgdp20 august 31 1840 presentation sheet. A presentation sheet of twenty different fugitive red colours four printed without oil (1st row) and sixteen with oil each stuck down on laid paper (watermarked j morbey and co 1840) and annotated in pencil by joshua bacons son perkins. This is stated to be perkins bacon archival example. This example includes the word tint before stamp 1 (no oil) and stamps 1 and 5 (with oil) which does not occur on the other four known sheets (one is in the royal collection and another is in the national postal museum). All the stamps that are blued are on paper that had been dipped in prussiate of potash except stamp 8 which must therefore be mistakenly mounted as stamp 16 colour g which is marked as being on plain paper whilst in fact dipped in prussiate of potash.
