Item Description
Grade: VF (Very Fine)Ultra-premium partial mint sheet of 96 of Scott #672, the blue 5c Theodore Roosevelt Nebraska Overprint issue of 1929 in two pieces, mint condition, outstanding VF+ centering and all never hinged. Certified genuine by the American Philatelic Society Expertizing Service (APEX—See attached image.) The Kansas-Nebraska overprints were issued in response to thefts in the midwest, but it didn't really help, so they were only available for a short period. Sales, however, were not limited to Kansas and Nebraska as the sheets were available in other states as well. This partial mint sheet is nearly 95 years old and in great condition. I obtained it as a single sheet of 96 with the plate block previously removed. It had a perf sep down the middle and was barely together. During the expertizing process, the final remaining perfs separated and it was evaluated and is being sold as a partial mint sheet in two pieces. There are no other significant perf seps or other faults. Very difficult to come by, these sheets have a total Scott Catalog value of over $2,800.00 based just on the value of the 96 singles. This Nebraska overprint sheet came from an estate that included a large number of mint sheets, plate blocks, coil rolls, booklets, and multiples from the mid 1920's through the 1960's. (See my other listings.) It appears that the original collector obtained material in quantity from the local or district post office, kept the sheets and rolls intact or broke them up into plate blocks and multiples, and retained them in glassine envelopes and/or folders. The original collector appears to have died or stopped collecting in the late 60's and the collection appears to have been largely untouched until the current owner arranged for their sale. The provenance of the estate collection as a whole also supports the authenticity of these overprints. The sheet on the image is the one you will receive. NO STOCK IMAGES! Perf seps along the narrow selvage are common and may occur. Centering, coloring and overprint are as pictured. Any other issues will be visible on the image or noted in the condition description above. The APEX certificate will be included with the sheet. Please check out my other mint sheet listings. Because of the value, this sheet will be shipped by USPS Registered and Priority Mail with tracking and full value insurance. Any other sheets purchased at the same time will be included at no additional charge
