Here is a post office fresh example of the 17 cent precanceled Electric Auto, Scott 1906a, from the first release of the transportation coil series. You will receive a mint never hinged plate number strip of five with plate number 4. This issue has four different types of precancel that can be identified by the length of the word "PRESORTED". Type A is 11.3mm long, Type B is 12.8mm long, and Type C is either 13.4 or 14mm long. This is an example of Type B. This strip doesn't have a gap in the precancel lines making it a no gap variety. Scott does not differentiate between the different precancel types on this issue. The PNC3 catalog prices this plate and precancel variety at $50. Is it missing from your collection?
