FDC produced for the 39c Hiram (Harry) Bingham IV stamps issued as part of the Distinguished American Diplomats sheet issued in Washington, DC, on May 30, 2006 (Sc. 4076c). Black cachet produced by Artcraft with a blue ADD-ON overprint, featuring the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia, and Gyeongbok Palace in Seoul, South Korea, plus some informative text about Harry Bingham IV. Harry Bingham IV was the Vice Consul at the U.S. Consulate in Marseilles, France, from 1939-1941. He worked with Varian Fry, an American volunteer, to provide visas and travel documents to more than 2,500 Jews and political opponents of the Nazis, so they could escape from Vichy, France.
