Fascinating preliminary pen and pencil sketches by Leonard Cornwall Mitchell (1901–1971) for Air stamps issued 29 December 1965 (3 items). An advanced pencil design of the 2s value on board measuring 316 x 216 mm. Plus pen doodles of both values on scrap paper and additional ideas on an envelope addressed to the designer with WELLINGTON, NZ circular cancel dated 9 MCH 1965, nine months before the stamps were issued.
