Item Description
Rutherford B. Hayes - arguably the greatest and most moral president this country has ever had - received his One Dollar coin in the Presidential Coin series in 2011. A special postmark to observe the issuance of this 19th coin in the series was offered at Fremont,Ohio, Hayes' home in his later life and site of his Presidential Library.This CACHETOON Philatelic/Numismatic cover shows our 19th president relaxing with his new coin, with Spiegel Grove, his stately home in Fremont, in the background.
The cover encases an actual $1 Hayes coin that is visible both front and back, and bears a pair of the 19¢ Hayes 'Prexies' (824) as well as a single of the 1922 11¢ Hayes (563), all three nicely struck by the August 18, 2011 pictorial cancel that reproduces the design of the coin.
This cover, as marked on the reverse, is #24 of only 25 made.
