Станция состояла из орбитального отсека и спускаемого аппарата, который представлял собой сферу диаметром 0,9 м и весил 960 кг.1 марта 1966 г. в 9 часов 56 минут по московскому времени АМС «Венера-3» после трёх с половиной месяцев полёта в космическом пространстве достигла поверхности планеты и доставила вымпел с гербом СССР.Большой объём траекторных измерений, полученный в процессе полёта, послужил ценным материалом для изучения проблем сверхдальней связи и межпланетных перелётов.English: On November 16, 1965, the unmanned spacecraft Venera-3 was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome, an automatic interplanetary station designed to explore the planet Venus. The station consisted of an orbital compartment and a descent vehicle, which was a sphere 0.9 m in diameter and weighed 960 kg.On March 1, 1966, at 9 hours 56 minutes Moscow time, the Venera-3 AMS, after three and a half months of flight in outer space, reached the planet's surface and delivered a pennant with the USSR emblem.The large volume of trajectory measurements obtained during the flight served as a valuable material for studying the problems of ultra-long-range communication and interplanetary flights.The postage card with the original stamp depicts a symbolic image of a launch vehicle launched into outer space; the main image shows the AMS "Venera-3" against the background of the planet and a metal globe with a pennant of the USSR.In addition to the issue of the postcard, a special cancellation stamp was made for Moscow, Korolev of the Moscow region and the central post office of the city of Baikonur.
