Item Description

This illustrated folded letter card depicting the 'Cunard RMS Queen Elizabeth' was mailed to New York City in 1964 franked by a 1/3 QEII Wilding issue tied by a Southampton Paquebot 'Posted at Sea' machine cancellation.

Air Mail Etiquette.

Content is a handwritten note "On Board" thanking the recipient for seeing the writer off and for the bottle of champagne they shared with their table. "...and the service is better than usual as the passenger list is only 1/2 full."..."We dock in Cherbourg, France on Monday about 2p.m. and take what is called the Boat Train to Paris."

Staple holes bottom, left and right in borders from original closure. Slight bit of machine cancel set off picture side.
