The Claude C. Ries Chapter of the AFDCS celebrates every Spring with a Luau-themed get-together. The Poi and Pineapple Smoothies flow freely and a good time is had by all.An event cover always celebrates our camaraderie with a tie-in to a current stamp issue . . and 2023's cover bears a single from the recent ENDANGERED SPECIES beautiful pane of 20 different animals.
This particular cover is franked with the MISSISSIPPI SANDHILL CRANE.
The cachet - saluting the thirteenth annual incarnation of the Ries Luau - features our hostess for the event, Ms. Alvetia E. Smith, joined by the ever-present roast pig mascot of the Luau, with both looking a bit apprehensive at the prospect of becoming ENDANGERED!
The stamp is cancelled with a facsimile postmark for the date and location of the Luau.
Only a few covers were left after being passed out to the throng of attendees at this year's LUAU . . making them genuinely ENDANGERED!
