Item Description

The USA in 2001 issued a salute to the PAN AMERICAN EXPOSITON on its centennial anniversary with 4 Diamond-shaped stamps, as well as a set of stamps a few months later celebrating LEGENDARY BALL PARKS.

The combination of a BUFFALO in RED on a DIAMOND-shaped stamp, and paired with a famous baseball DIAMOND was a groaner too good to pass up.

Hence, this cachet, showing a RED BUFFALO holding a frying PAN, towering over a baseball DIAMOND was created. The cover is franked with both an 80¢ PAN AMERICAN EXPOSITION single, as well as the LEGENDARY BALL PARKS single showing famous FENWAY PARK in BOSTON.

Each stamp is nicely cancelled with the appropriate First Day of Issue postmark, almost exactly 3 months apart.
