Item(s) from my specialized collection of 1870s-1890s fancy and killer cancels. These represent a select group of us banknote issues, each with typical post office strikes of unusual, colored or fancy cancel designs.

Please note that some minor paper flaws are present, but generally do not adversely affect the quality of these old-time post office cancellation strikes and auxiliary postal markings.

Some of these are similar to a variety of popular hand-carved & specialty designs adopted for contemporary use by local postmaster/clerks...Typically for only brief periods of time before frequently adopting revised/modified or totally new designs.

Most of the surviving types were subsequently researched and traced/illustrated by james cole for inclusion in his 1995 reference: "cancellations and killers of the banknote era, 1870-1894...Please see the second scan
